I left Colorado around midnight with my car packed and a 9 mil glock in the glove compartment.A gift from my Dad who thought it best to pack the heat since truck stops weren't always the safest places for single girls to spend the night. Thanks Dad. I liked the attitude I had when I loaded the gun with ammo and put the safety on. At a rest stop on 80 just a bit west of the Wyoming border I fired off a couple rounds to make sure I still had it in me. You know cajone's. The ones girls imagine they have which are often bigger than the two their boyfriends have. There was no one around for miles and my imagined cajone's were shoved right up my butt when the blast from the glock left me on my ass. Hell I didn't even care,I was free from Colorado and the neatly wrapped box my life had been imprisoned in. I was going to fly by the seat of my pants anyway. An initiation of sorts I decided. I got up ,wiped the dirt off myself, climbed into my car and headed west to California. Life was about to heat up and I didn't want to miss one minute of it.

My name is Grace and in the autumn of 1999 I packed up everything I could fit into my car and left Colorado without looking back. My best friend,Robin, had been killed in a car accident a year before and I was slowly losing my mind. An accomplished caterer who had a pretty good life, I decided to move to Napa Valley and make the switch to all things Wine. I realized life was to short to continue on in a mundane existence. Although I only worked forty weeks out of the year and spent the rest of my time abroad I found my world to be very empty and shallow. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I was engaged, married and divorced all within the one year anniversary of Robin's death.Believe me that's another story entirely. Come with me to California where the party of the century is about to begin. Where giants live and the dreams you dream can come true if you work hard and believe in yourself. Or if you're like me a shameless con who lost faith in all things God the second my friend was killed in a car accident.Thinking God wasn't paying attention to me any longer I had a change of view points. Once I was a decent human being filled with integrity, honesty, and courage. What happened to me after I arrived in California, well I'll let you dear reader be the judge. My wish is to cleanse myself of the sins I've committed and to remember one of the greatest times in my life. Remember: what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Yeah right.
